- “avi2dvd” is a free avi to dvd converter for windows. AVI is a popular video format and you will find a lot of videos on the web in this format. But if you would like to burn a AVI video to a DVD and watch it on a DVD player or TV, you need to first convert it to DVD. Moreover, DVD is currently the most widely used video format, though it is slowly replaced by better formats like blu-ray. It is also the format used to store digital videos in DVD discs.

AVI to DVD (avi2dvd)

AVI stands for Audio Video Interleave and to convert AVI videos to DVD, you need a AVI to DVD Converter. Here is one decent free software called avi2dvd, which can help you achieve this. This tool can convert videos in AVI/OGM/MKVMP4/WMV/DVD formats to DVD/SVCD/VCD formats easily. Avi2dvd even supports DV-AVI and High Definition (HD) videos in avi, mkv and mp4 containers. However, for DV-AVI videos you need “Cedocida DV Codec” or “Panasonic DV Codec”. You can check out the other requirements and features here.

How to convert AVI to DVD

In “Step 1 Input” tab, click the “Load avi/ogm/mkv/wmv” button to load the video that you want to convert
2. Choose an audio stream.This free converter supports multiple audio streams.
In “step 2 output” tab, choose output format, aspect ratio, audio bit-rate etc.
3. In step 3, choose an appropriate encoder.It is recommended to use the default values
4. In step 4, enter your subtitles. Next, press “Add job” and then press “GO”

You can the burn the generated image to a DVD using a free DVD burning software like ImgBurn or the DVD burning software like Amok.

If you have a video in AVI/MKV/OGM formats with parts cd1, cd2, cd3, etc. you can rename the AVIs to load then as one unique avi! For eg., you can rename them as Matrix CD1.avi, Matrix CD2.avi, Matrix CD3.avi, etc. and then load the Matrix CD1.avi! If you rename the files as suggested, avi2dvd will join the AVIs automatically and will produce a unique video. This will also work for ogm/mkv videos.
