According to Apple, Safari 3.1 is 1.9 times faster than IE 7 [Internet Explorer 7] and 1.7 times faster than Firefox 2, 2.8 times faster than Opera 9.Safari 3.1 also executes JavaScript faster (up to 6 times) than other browsers.These results were observed when Safari 3.1 was tested with VeriTest iBench 5.0 using default settings running on an iMac 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo system running Windows XP with 1GB of RAM.
Safari 3.1 is also the first browser to support the latest web 2.0 standards and hence delivers the next generation of highly interactive Web 2.0 experiences.

Apple also stated that Safari 3.1 will be the first browser to comply with HTML 5 standards by supporting audio and video tags as laid down in HTML 5.0.Safari 3.1 will also support CSS Web Fonts, giving designers limitless choices of fonts to create stunning new web sites.
