Orkut mobile access via m.orkut.com

 December 23, 2008 One Comment

Do you know that you can access orkut on your mobile phone? Google has an orkut mobile version – m.orkut.com

Orkut is a very popular social networking site in India and Brazil. While Brazil account for more than 50% percent of the vistiors to orkut, India drives substantial traffic to Orkut. It is extremely popular among school and college students and the huge IT (Information Technology) sector crowd in India. While many offices and schools block Orkut, people can continue to keep in touch with their friends and community in orkut via their iphones and mobile phones.

m.orkut.com has a simplified interface and you can access:

  • Your orkut profile
  • Your friends’ photos (and leave comments!)
  • Status updates
  • Your scrapbook – While your three most recent scraps will appear on your homepage, you can infact read all of your scraps in your scrapbook. Note that you can view 10 scraps per page. You can even write scraps to your friends from their profile page
  • User search
  • Your friends’ list
  • Updates from your friends (Note: Video and Testimonial updates will not display on orkut mobile as those features are only available from a computer.)
  • Birthday reminders
  • Friend requests

There is also a low bandwidth version of orkut, that displays less pictures. Though orkut will automatically switch to this low bandwidth version depending on your connection, you can explicitly opt to use it in the settings

Enjoy orkut on your mobile via m.orkut.com and keep in touch with your friends and more.
