Microsoft Visio viewer 2010 is a successor to Visio viewer 2007 and it is the latest version.. If you are still on Windows xp service pack 2 (SP2), you may download Visio Viewer 2007 from here.

Visio Viewer is as an activeX control that loads and renders Visio diagrams in Internet Explorer.It supports both Visio binary (.vsd) and XML (.vdx) files.

This Visio viewer can open the diagrams i.e. VSD files in Microsoft Internet Explorer 8, 7, 6, or 5.

To install the viewer, double click the downloaded “VisioViewer.exe” program file to start the setup program. Then, follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

How to open Visio diagrams with Visio viewer?

If visio viewer is installed on your pc, simply double-click a Visio drawing i.e. files with .vsd, .vss, .vst, .vdx, .vsx, or .vtx extension. The Visio Viewer, loads and renders the drawing in the IE browser. If IE is already open, you can simply drag and drop the visio diagram to view it.

Once the diagram is opened using the Viewer, you can pan and zoom by using toolbar buttons, keyboard shortcuts, or menu items in the shortcut menu. You can also see the properties of any shape by opening the “Properties and Settings” dialog box and then selecting a shape. Some rendering and display settings are available in the “Display Settings” tab of the “Properties and Settings” dialog box. Additionally, you can set “drawing-layer visibility and colors” in the “Layer Settings” tab, and “annotation visibility and colors” in the “Markup Settings” tab.
