Microsoft has released Internet Explorer 8, which it claims to be faster, easier, and safer than ever! IE8 has several interesting features including an interesting Compatibility View button next to the Refresh button on the Address Bar, that lets you view websites designed for older browsers! Here are a few other noteworthy features.

Accelerators in Internet Explorer 8:

Microsoft has introduced Accelerators in Internet Explorer 8, to give people instant access to the online services they care about, from any Web page they visit, without having to leave the page and manually navigate to a different site. Accelerators help you quickly perform your everyday browsing tasks without navigating to other websites to get things done.

How to use Accelerators?

Simply highlight text from any web page, and then click on the blue Accelerator icon that appears above your selection, to obtain driving directions, translate and define words, email content to others, search with ease, and do more. For example, with the “Map with Live Maps” Accelerator in Internet Explorer 8, you can get an in-place view of a map displayed directly on the page.

You can discover many useful Accelerators by selecting the More Accelerators option on the right-click menu, or visit the Accelerators gallery, that features Accelerators from Live Search, Google, eBay, Yahoo!, Wikipedia, Amazon, Facebook, and other sites in a way that works for you.

You can easily delete, disable, or enable Accelerators by clicking on Manage Add-ons from the Tools button on the upper right-hand corner of your Internet Explorer 8 browser window.

In-Private Browsing and In-Private Filtering in Microsoft Internet Explorer 8:

IE8 has also an In-Private Browsing feature that lets you browse the web without leaving any traces.This is very useful when you are using a public computer, as it prevent your browsing history, temporary Internet files, form data, cookies, and user names and passwords from being retained by the browser, leaving no evidence of your browsing or search history. You can start In-Private Browsing by opening a new tab and selecting “Browse with In-Private” or selecting it from the Safety button on the top right corner of the browser window.Closing the browser window will end your In-Private Browsing session.

In-Private Filtering provides surfers an added level of control and choice about the information that third party websites can potentially use to track browsing activity. It is off by default and must be enabled on a per-session basis. To use this feature, select “In-Private Filtering” from the Safety menu. To access and manage different filtering options for Internet Explorer 8, select In-Private Filtering Settings from the Safety menu. To end your In-Private Browsing session, simply close the browser window.

Webslice in Internet Explorer 8 (IE8):

Internet Explorer 8 is also partnering with several top search providers like Live Search, Wikipedia, Yahoo, Amazon, and more to deliver “visual search” images that provide the most relevant results in a visually appealing manner.

Internet Explorer 8 is available for Windows XP, Vista, Windows Vista 64-bit, Windows Server 2003 64-bit, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 64-bit.However Internet Explorer 8 cannot be used on Windows 7 beta as it already includes a pre-release candidate version of Internet Explorer 8 that is optimized for that release. Windows 7 enables unique features and functionality in Internet Explorer 8 including Windows Touch and Jump Lists, that is not yet available in the current release.
