Facebook Optimization Guide

This Facebook Optimization guide details why and how to optimize Title, Description, Images, Videos and other rich media for sharing your content on Facebook. You will get to know the ideal length, size and other dimensions for each of these elements.

When a web page is shared on facebook, it should have the appropriate open Graph tags for it to be optimized with Titles, Descriptions and appropriate rich content like images, videos and audio for Facebook users. This would inturn enhance CTR (Click-through Rates) and drive more traffic to the shared web page.

Techblissonline Platinum WordPress SEO Plugin supports optimizing your WordPress content by enabling addition of appropriate open Graph Tags for Title, Description and Image that could be read by Facebook Crawlers. these can be specified via the Basic Social Tab of the Techblissonline Platinum SEO MetaBox for every single post, page or taxonomy. In the absense of these Open Graph Tags, FaceBook uses heuristics to make the best guess for these elements. Thus the plugin lets you specify socially optimized Titles, Descriptions and the best image that should be shown to Facebook users for enhancing CTR and thereby driving in more traffic to the web page and the website in general.

What are the most commonly used Open Graph Tags?

The following are some of the most commonly used Open Graph Tags and you must ensure that these are added to your content by following best practices listed below for each one of them.

og:title – The title of your wordPress Post or Page Content or Taxonomy (Usually the Term Name) Content. It is ideal to not add your branding like Site Name as you would normally do for SEO. In the absense of this tag,Facebook defaults the type to website. Each URL should be a single object, so multiple og:type values are not possible for the same URL. Individual Posts or Pages should be tagged as Article object type, in the case of a blog. Techblissonline Platinum WordPress Premium supports several Facebook Object types that could be specified against wordPress Post or Page URLs, depending on the content.
