Thumbnails in Home and other archive pages are created using the first image uploaded for a post. Hence, make sure that you first upload the appropriate image for every post. 1. Yeah this theme looks really cool. I like it very much. Thanks for sharing it 🙂

  2. Well done on a very good looking theme release.

  3. NICE … 😀 great job.. thanks for the theme and sharing it

  4. after installation got this error:

    Fatal error: Only variables can be passed by reference in /home/bizeleph/public_html/wp-content/themes/indy-premium/functions.php on line 306

    only on the home page

  5. nıce theme thanks .

  6. Probably due to the version of php you are using…You will find a function call preceded by ampersand on that line.You can remove it.
    Check this php bug reported here:

  7. GREAT !
    Thank you

  8. Rajesh – I’m getting the same error on line 306 of functions.php. But I’m confused by your comment (and by your link). Am I removing the ampersand or the function call?

  9. You will have to remove the ampersand…

    the link says that it is a bug in an earlier version of php. It does not give errors to everyone. See an example site here –

  10. Hmmm…I removed the ampersand and still get the same message when I run the site through Theme Test Drive.

  11. 1) Check functions.php to see whether your change has been saved. Are you getting the error on line 306?
    2) What is the version of wordpress you are using?

  12. Ok here is the correct fix:

    Replace line 306 in functions.php of the theme i.e.
    $comments_by_type = &separate_comments(get_comments(‘post_id=’ . $id));

    with these two lines and save:

    $comments_for_post = get_comments(‘post_id=’ . $id);
    $comments_by_type = &separate_comments($comments_for_post);

    I checked for the error: “Only variables can be passed by reference php error” in google and i found a lot of articles on this. for eg:

    Interesting post and not sure why it does not happen on all versions as it seems to work fine on my php versions.

  13. That did it! Thanks so much! I’m planning on activating this theme tonight once I tweak the code a bit more. LOVE THE THEME.

  14. Okay, one last question and I swear I’m done (I’ve already launched the tweaked theme at my blog). How do I slow down the featured posts? I want to add just 1-2 seconds before it switches to the next story, but can’t find that code ANYwhere.

  15. Go to header.php file and find this code snippet:

    auto: true,
    continuous: true,
    pause: 3000

    You can increase or decrease pause(in milliseconds) to control the sliding speed of featured posts.

  16. Great theme. Thank you for sharing this. Hope you don’t mind that I have translated it into Norwegian.

  17. No problem. Enjoy using the theme.

  18. Rajesh – your comment back got cut off, but that’s okay – I found the code. I didn’t think to look in the header!!

  19. That’s a nice looking theme, good work!

  20. i have a question about the theme
    how to display the thumbnail in every posts? thanks
    great theme.

  21. Upload the picture that you want to be shown as thumbnail for a post, through the wordpress Write panel. If you have more than one picture for the post, ensure that you upload first the one you want as thumbnail.

  22. I see a very striking resemblance between this theme and BluMag theme, but somehow, i just love this! Thanks for the theme…hats off!

  23. Good template, excellent work. I have translated Indy Premium on Russian and have laid out at myself on a blog for free downloading. To look it is possible here:
    Скачать русифицированную тему Indy Premium можно у меня на блоге.

  24. I have a question: When I have several pictures in the same post the last picture is shown as thumbnail. Is there anything I can do to make the theme grab the first picture of the post?

  25. That is probably because it is the first one you uploaded for the post.Instead, make sure that you upload the image you want as thumbnail first. You can offcourse show the images in any order you want in the post.

  26. Thanks. I’ll have that in mind next time 🙂

  27. Having a problem in the feature section. When I post more than one post with the Features category tag it displays that post below the box and over the existing body.
    Any help would be appreciated

  28. I think you are using Simple Indy theme and you have played around a lot with widths in your CSS file.Try reducing the width of #slider further as it doesn’t seem to fit within the #featured div.You have now set it to 800px.Reduce it further and find the optimal width.

  29. When I reduce the size it messes up the positioning of the left sidebar.
    Should this be happening??

  30. @Dave, No it shouldn’t mess it up….

    Change #slider width to 770px;
    #slider li width to 770px;
    #content-home width to 910px;
    #archive width to 660px;
    #featured width to 885px;

    add to #featured:

  31. Still doing it even ater resizing it all.
    If I remember correctly it wasn’t working before I started changing the widths.
    Could it have anything to do with the js?

  32. No…I copied your CSS, tested it and suggested the changes…it works well with those widths and importantly the min-height for #featured , as otherwise the border doesn’t appear around it in firefox…

  33. @Dave, I think now you solved the width issues.Add other posts to Featured section by categorizing them as Featured.You seem to have added only one post to Featured Category.

  34. I have done that and the posts still keep coming up below the box and over the homepage content.
    Also it does not scroll automatically

  35. @Dave…You site looks perfect here.You clear your browser cache and check.Regarding scroll, it will happen only if you add more posts to Featured category, as I mentioned in my previous comment.Right now, you have added only one post.

  36. Take a look now, I have added a post and you can see what it looks like

  37. You have messed up the following script in your header.php.
    copy and paste this into your header.php.

    <script type=”text/javascript”>
    auto: true,
    continuous: true,
    controlsShow: false,
    prevText: ”,
    nextText: ”,
    pause: 3000

  38. Still the same.
    any other suggestions

  39. hey boss…The quotes are not proper in the script.Since you copied from the comment, the quotes in that script look different.Copy the script from the original header.php of your theme download or correct the quotes.

    i.e. the double quotes around #slider and the single quotes for prevText and nextText.

  40. Done. I really appreciate your help. This is getting frustrating:)

  41. I think you have placed a double quote for prevText and nextText. It should be single quotes (open and close) – denoting an empty string.

    if it still doesn’t work, disable lightbox plugin – wp-lightbox2 and try…

  42. I changed the quotes. But it is still showing the post below the featured window.

  43. open and close the single quotes. i.e. two single quotes for prevText and two for nextText. you have placed only one single quote for either of them.

  44. Just caught that but it is still the same.

  45. have you disabled lightbox plugin?

  46. That did it. Thank you so much for all of your help.
    It is really appreciated!!

  47. @tom, You seem to be using Indy Premium theme.

    Reduce the min-height under #featured in the theme’s style.css. The min-height is currently set to 250px.
    Then reduce the height property for the items #slider, #slider li. It is also set to 250px.

  48. Having a problem again.
    My blog shows up all crazy on internet explorer.
    Any reason or fix for this??

  49. looks good on IE for me… – infact I have IE6 and it looks ok on that…

  50. it seems too big and you have to scroll side to side to see the whole site

  51. Exactly…it is because you changed the widths…but i wasn’t sure of why you wanted it to be wider…

    the theme was orginally designed with widths that fitted inside the page width standard of 960 or 980 px…

    but the scrolling is not needed on my PC as it has a wider screen and a better resolution…

  52. I would like to remove the easy slider and replace it with a new one.
    Any idea on how I do that.
    I would like to replace i with the one featured at

    Any help would be appreciated

  53. You disable Featured posts through the theme options page and replace your new one as per the instructions given for it.
